I chose USC Annenberg, because the school provides me with countless hands-on experiences. Working in the Media Center, I had the chance to attend a Teen Vogue event and even report on a runway. At Annenberg, I feel like my dreams of pursuing journalism are right at my fingertips, and Annenberg’s classes and centers provide me with the skills to materialize my goals. Likewise, being a journalist in Los Angeles means always being at the forefront of the news ecosystem. Annenberg feels like a second home to me, and the place where I can become the best version of myself.

I chose USC Annenberg to study with the most impressive and kind people I've ever met. Whether they're a student or faculty member, I'm always inspired by the people I meet within Annenberg. Additionally, the media center has allowed me to get so much hands on journalism experience, all while connecting with my incredible peers. We all collaborate to foster a fun and creative Annenberg experience, making it the perfect place for me!

When I first walked into Wallis Annenberg Hall, I was immediately struck by its bustling, innovative environment. I quickly realized that Annenberg is where I can be at the forefront of media, technology, and culture as an emerging professional. From our ambitious student body, world-class resources, to faculty with deep industry experience, I knew it was Annenberg that would provide the ideal learning environment and community. The support I find in the Annenberg community is unmatched, spanning academic/career advisors, dedicated faculty, and students alike. USC Annenberg keeps me excited everyday, presenting new opportunities and events that push me to grow as a young professional.
Meet Omar M.

Graduation Year: 2029
After getting civically engaged during my Sophomore year of high school, I embarked upon a journey of social justice advocacy in my high school years. Part of this journey was realizing how essential the media is to maintaining our democracy. Coming into college as a first generation college student, I wanted to make sure to keep a foot in the community. From my own research about Annenberg, I saw how much opportunity the Annenberg Media Center offers for students to get hands-on experience in multimedia journalism. I knew that Annenberg would allow me to authentically serve the public.

USC can often feel large, but the Annenberg community is so tight-knit that it feels a lot smaller. Any time I walk into either Annenberg building, I encounter one of my friends heading to class, leaving a lecture, or studying. I love that Annenberg has such a supportive environment where everyone wants their peers to succeed. As an aspiring entertainment lawyer, I felt Annenberg was the best place for me to begin my career journey. This has proven true with all of the hands-on experience Annenberg has provided me with. From my work with the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative to my contributions to Annenberg Media, I have loved all aspects of my time at Annenberg. Having participated in so much as a freshman, I cannot wait for the next three years! As I step into this new role as an Ambassador, I’m excited to represent everything that makes Annenberg so special.
