Coming from out of state, Annenberg was a huge reason why I chose USC! The campus is very large, but Annenberg helped make it feel small. When I first toured the campus, I immediately fell in love with Annenberg. Being able to learn from world-class faculty, listening to amazing panels, and touring PR agencies has been surreal. The endless opportunities that they provide are amazing, from working in the world-renowned media center to being involved in a student-run PR firm. I love how I can use my knowledge of PR to work in my desired field of either politics or entertainment. I am very excited to see what new opportunities come and grateful to be able to give back to this Annenberg community as an ambassador

Annenberg is uniquely committed to fostering a supportive environment while challenging students to achieve their greatest potential. At Annenberg, students are constantly encouraged to collaborate with one another through group projects, in-class discussions, and even joint study sessions. Annenberg's faculty serve not only as expert professors, but also as invaluable mentors who ensure students are prepared to succeed in any field they pursue. Through its media center and variety of publications, Annenberg offers its students with real-world opportunities and learning experiences that are hardly available anywhere else. I am incredibly grateful to be studying at Annenberg, where every day, something new inspires or challenges me toward becoming an impactful professional.

I chose Annenberg because of the abundance of unique opportunities, especially in the heart of Los Angeles. Annenberg's highly recognized and well-established faculty, state-of-the-art media center, and inviting community helped me ensure that I was receiving the best education possible. I am falling in love with Annenberg more and more, not only because of the classes but also because of the best people I have ever met here.
Meet Ava N.
Major: Journalism
Hometown: Manhattan Beach, CA
Graduation Year: 2028
I chose Annenberg because I want to be part of a team of staff and students who help create a unique impact in the communication industry and encourage each other to figure out where our skills can be the most helpful. Before I got to USC, I wrote for and led my high school newspaper but I didn’t realize the crucial role journalism plays in the industries aside from print we as humans rely on day-to-day. Feeling overwhelmed with opportunity, I knew that whatever I decided to join, I hoped to see myself sitting on that panel among other ambitious students at some point too. I am continuously overwhelmed by the fact that in just one semester as part of the Trojan family I have developed so much as a communicator and person. I am so grateful to have chosen Annenberg and you should too!

I chose Annenberg because I knew it would provide me countless opportunities to study what I am passionate about, get involved in extracurriculars related to my studies, and find a community with others with the same interests as me. I was excited about getting real-world experience through volunteering and working in the Annenberg Media Center, which I knew was such a unique opportunity that only USC Annenberg could offer. I also knew I wanted to come to Los Angeles with the goal of working in the entertainment industry, and I knew Annenberg would set me up to achieve those dreams.

I chose Annenberg because it has been my dream school since freshman year in high school. I've always been interested in PR, communication, and marketing while growing up. After visiting USC and Annenberg for the first time my Junior year, I know this is where I am meant to be. Not just due to the fact that it holds the top PR and Communication program in the country, but also the close-knit community, care, and support all the professors and faculties have for each student. USC is my school, and Annenberg is my home away from home.

When I first visited USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism as a high school student, I immediately felt it was where I belonged. Seeing the towering screen inside Wallis Annenberg Hall showcasing student and alumni achievements, I sensed I was stepping into a space driven by innovation and storytelling. Now as a student, that first impression has only grown stronger. While USC is a large university, Annenberg feels close-knit and deeply supportive. Professors invest in our growth, and students genuinely champion one another’s goals. As a public relations major, I’ve explored interests in entertainment and politics while building meaningful connections. Even far from home, Annenberg has become my community—and a place that constantly inspires me to grow.

I chose USC Annenberg because of its commitment to impactful, hands-on journalism and its belief in the power of storytelling to shape communities. Annenberg doesn’t just teach reporting, but it immerses students in it. Through programs like the Charlotta Bass Journalism & Justice Lab, the school prioritizes amplifying underrepresented voices and reporting with purpose. At the same time, opportunities with Annenberg Media allow students to cover real-time stories, gaining professional-level experience in a dynamic market. USC Annenberg’s blend of ethical journalism, industry access, and experiential learning makes it the ideal place for me to develop into a thoughtful, analytical journalist.
Meet Samvita A.

Studying at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism makes me feel complete and encourages me to not only initiate my own opportunities through learning from more experienced individuals but also strive to open doors for others by providing resources, tours, and hosting panels. Today, PR & Advertising at Annenberg allows me to highlight the stories and gut feelings behind what makes brands great and the motivations behind customer loyalty, which I observed growing up in over 5 countries, to inform my projects in integrated marketing and advertising. Somehow, in between the dynamic and fast-paced nature of Annenberg, students find kinship within a collective strife for originality and creativity. I wish for every USC student, prospective, current, or non-major, to be able to experience Annenberg as I do.

I was drawn towards Annenberg not only because it is an amazing school, but because it truly allows you to choose your path, or paths. From the plethora of classes, student news groups, and resources to the study abroad opportunities, professors, and advisors, the possibilities are endless and you are only limited by the time you have at the school. Regardless of what you do with that time, Annenberg makes the most of it, preparing you to be a global collaborator and leader for your future profession.

USC Annenberg is one of the few places where I felt I could pursue multimedia journalism at the collegiate level, and it's been everything I've dreamed of and more!! The media center is the coolest place on campus, all the professors are so accomplished and willing to help, Annenberg students are absolutely vibrant and there are so many opportunities to explore. I have so much pride in being a Trojan and am privileged to be able to say I'm an Annenberg student. Fight on!!❤️💛

“Take a picture with the person next to you; these are your future colleagues, support systems, and friends.” Those were some of the first words spoken to me at USC during my Annenberg orientation. The intentionally mobilizing words of the orientation leaders may have appeared to some as a menial ice breaker, but for me, they will forever be memorable. USC Annenberg was immediately both a comforting and motivating sanctuary for me. After seeing the impressive media center, I was intrigued, but once I got to know the community behind it, I was hooked.
